THE BACKGROUND
Case Study: Ultra Pillow: 4th Gen
Ivana T. Lowchareonkul is a Product Designer based in California who has a passion for modern simplicity in her designs. She and her team, Ivana Designs, strive to create products that are innovative and effective in solving daily life problems.
Pillows can be a tricky aspect of trying to get a good night's rest. If a pillow isn't perfect, or can't hold its shape the way you want it to, it can be difficult finding a comfortable position for your head throughout the night as you toss and turn.
Ivana Designs sought to create a pillow that solves all the common problems with conventional fill pillows that have plagued restless sleepers for so long. Their solution is "gravity-defying", so that the user barely feels the conventional pressure that a pillow would apply to the head while being used. The material that allows for this and sets it apart from other pillows is the Bamboo Charcoal Foam, which adaptively moves with the sleeper, keeping the head feeling adequately well-supported throughout the night.
Our Approach
Ivana Designs sought to address every bit of feedback from backers across the campaigns of their first three pillows for the Ultra Pillow: 4th Gen, who wanted a cooler, more breathable pillow as well as one that supported their head regardless of position.
The resulting 4th Gen pillow makes use of innovative design elements, with a focus on these four specific ones:
New features: The Ultra Pillow: 4th Gen is designed to not only provide adaptive and stable support for the head throughout the night, but also to be cleaner & more sanitary than traditional pillows, preventing growth of bacteria and mold and staying fresh-smelling. It also promotes rest by keeping the sleeper aligned with healthy posture.
Two sizes: The Ultra Pillow: 4th Gen comes in two sizes to best fit the sleeper's mattress, with both a standard 40x60 (intended for queen and under), and a king-size 40x70.
The coolest sleep: The Ultra Pillow: 4th Gen is made with both superior materials and construction for wicking away heat and promoting airflow. The "Ice Silk" cover provides refreshing instant coolness for the sleeper at all times.

THE RESULTS
This was a good and to-the-point Kickstarter video, with clear explanation and demonstration of the pillow's properties through the use of motion graphics. There were notably questions from the backers on such topics as shipping fees and delays. Overall, backers seemed very excited for this one however, with several commenters expressing their loyalty for the brand.
