Case Study: SLINGR-X: THE NEXT-GEN TRAVEL SLING FOR MINIMALISTS
Rival is an Australia-based company from Melbourne. They believe in creating durable, versatile lifestyle products with a focus on minimalism.
Travelers can often struggle to find bags and carrying cases that strike the right balance of durability and organization while still avoiding bulk and being comfortable to carry around and wear on one's person. Rival sought to change that by developing a minimalist shoulder bag that would make both travel and everyday carry a breeze. The result is the SLINGR-X.
Our Approach
The design team sought to replace traditional body bags and over-the-shoulder bags with something that combined the effective functionality of both while providing superior organization and a comfortable and slim aesthetic when worn on the front of the body.
The SLINGR-X is made from sustainable materials and is built around the user's lifestyle, making their EDC that much simpler.
The SLINGR-X was crafted specifically around five design elements:
New Features: From an ejecting card slot built into the bag's integrated wallet to hidden internal slots for things like phone chargers and coins, the SLINGR-X is packed with thoughtful features to allow the user to have exactly what they need on hand, easily, at all times.
Built with lifestyles in mind: The SLINGR-X is made for all kinds of users, whether one lives in a city & frequently uses public transit, or is just an on-the-go parent.
Sustainable Construction: The SLINGR-X is made with unique Eco PU construction, which offers a small environmental footprint and the durability of a ripstop fabric interior. The bag also incorporates RFID-blocking layers for security.
Sizing to fit into your life: With 2 sizes, Aero or Vital (2/3 size or full size), the SLINGR-X has size options to fit the user's daily needs.
Streamlined Functionality: The SLINGR-X is designed to be just as convenient while worn on the back or front of the body, and with hidden compartments, magnetic quick access, and smart storage for what the user needs to carry, it's streamlined for the user's life.

THE RESULTS
The highly stylized Kickstarter video was thorough in showing off the improved features of the product from the previous iteration, as well as the different design variations. There were questions from backers about the sizes and size differences, as well as shipping concerns. Overall, backers were looking forward to this one and Rival's responses were prompt!
