LiberNovo is a Hong Kong-based design firm kicking off their portfolio with the Omni, a revolutionary new chair with cutting-edge ergonomic design.

Dedicated office chairs are quickly becoming the must-have item for many desk activities, from gaming and working with arts and crafts, to doing office work (of course). Users are looking for the perfect balance between comfort that's maintained throughout the working day for long stretches as the user shifts their weight and changes positions throughout the day, and value for money.

LiberNovo aimed to address this balance with a highly adaptable and reactive redesign of standard modern office chairs. The Omni's secret is the dynamic moving parts that allow all parts of the chair that come into contact with the user's body (the seat, backrest, armrests, and headrest) to move dynamically as the user moves and makes slight position adjustments throughout an extended period of sitting.

Our Approach

LiberNovo wanted to create a chair that addressed the needs and desires of many different kinds of office users, without sacrificing or cutting corners.

The resulting Omni makes use of a simple and modern design language, with a focus on these seven specific elements:

• All-Day Sitting Comfort: The Omni is designed to help the user remain comfortable through extended periods of sitting, with dynamic support that moves with the body. This allows for ergonomic alignment no matter how the user might be sitting. The Bionic FlexFit technology in the chair's construction also allows the chair to mold to a variety of body shapes and spine types. The chair even has a spinal massage function built into the motorized backrest.

• From Dream to Your Chair: The Omni was designed in collaboration with spine specialists to create a chair that mitigates pressure on the body as much as possible, creating a sitting experience that doesn't hurt after extended periods.

• Perfect Fit, Every Time: The Omni was designed to keep the chair's components in contact with and supporting the spine at all times, to discourage slouching to fill the gaps where the spine is unsupported (as in traditional office chairs).

• The Ultimate Productivity Booster: The Dynamic Support System built into the Omni allows the user to lean back easily any time they feel the need and feel fully supported in doing so, without the need for manual adjustments using levers under the seat, etc.

• Relieve and Improve Your Spine Health: With the 4-position reclining backrest, users can alternate between more relaxing postures and ones that are more conducive to focus and work. Stretch mode even helps relax the spine after prolonged sitting, helping the user feel recharged and refreshed.

THE RESULTS

The Kickstarter campaign video was extensive and made solid use of motion graphics to show a breakdown of the chair's many components. There were notably questions from the backers on the prototype and backer rewards, as well as things like warranties and replacement parts .
