THE BACKGROUND
Case Study: Aniwow "World’s Smallest 16" Folding Bike with 8 Usage Modes
ANIWOW is a US company specializing in bicycles designed for optimal urban mobility. The company produces all their products with customers and environmentally sustainable business practices at the forefront.
More cyclists and commuters today are looking for adaptable transportation solutions than ever, so ANIWOW developed the AW16, a new addition to the folding bike market aimed at providing cyclists with a folding bike that can do much more than competing products can, making it more than merely a bike, and more of a versatile tool.
OUR APPROACH
The challenge was to design a folding bike that not only had a smaller size profile than other folding bikes, but could also enhance the user's daily life in other ways besides merely being easily portable.
Recognizing the increasing need for a more versatile folding bike, ANIWOW designed the AW16 with specific features that combine the regular rideability of a standard bike with the compact packability of a folding bike, enhanced with rolling functionality while being fully folded to allow for other uses.
The result is the AW16, designed around five key elements, with the convenience and mobility of the user first in mind:
Smallest Folded Size for a 16" Bike: The bike easily folds into a compact shape that measures just 54x24x53cm, making it up to 50% smaller than competing folding bikes when fully folded.
8-in-one Usage Modes: The AW16 takes on additional functionality with five useful modes when not unfolded for riding, with the ability to freely stand while folded for use as an outdoor tabletop (with a tabletop add-on) or the ability to be pushed as a shopping cart or pet carrier. It can be pushed while fully folded by either the handlebars or the seat/seatpost.
Smooth Gliding: The AW16 rolls easily when folded over any surface, including rougher or more uneven ones.
Full-Size Riding Experience: Despite the much smaller wheels, the wheelbase is the same as a full-size bike at 96cm, making it just as natural and comfortable-feeling as a full-size bike. The seatpost and handlebars are fully adjustable as well for all riders.
Reliable Performance & Terrain-Ready Specs: The AW16 provides a robust riding experience in the city or the wilderness, with a durable strength-tested steel frame, wide tires for maximum traction, and multiple gears for a variety of riding environments.
THE RESULTS
The ANIWOW AW16 has been successful with cyclists and commuters since launching their campaign, particularly those who live in large cities and have to rely on other forms of transportation on a single journey aside from biking (like public transit). By combining maximal riding comfort with extreme portability and packability, as well as the ability to perform other functions when fully folded, the folding bike met the following objectives:
Enhanced User Comfort: Cyclists were pleased with the way the bike handled and performed, as well as the strength and durability of the bike's construction.
Enhanced User Functionality: Cyclists also liked how the bike can operate as a manual cart or trolley when folded up, allowing it to be used as a grocery cart or pet carrier.
User Friendliness: With the product easy to fold up and take on the go, as well as collapse and fold the seat and handlebars, users were pleased with the bike's small and easily transportable profile.
Positive Brand Recognition: ANIWOW solidified its position as an innovative leader in the folding bike market, recognized for understanding the evolving needs of urban commuters. The AW16 has helped solidify ANIWOW's reputation in this field.
Market Expansion and Product Line Growth: The success of the AW16 also contributed to the expansion of ANIWOW's roduct line, positioning the company to introduce additional urban mobility products that build on the features that have helped their customer base grow. With an emphasis on versatile and well-made products, ANIWOW continues to evolve and expand into new consumer segments.
